As an HR Specialist, Lawrence creates the best employee experience possible to strengthen individual, team, and organizational performance. The success of HLM is dependent on employee engagement and satisfaction, and each task performed, whether employee relations or benefits administration is another opportunity to make HLM the best version of itself.
Lawrence believes that HR can clarify the meaning of purpose, value, and culture in any organization, which becomes evident in identifying, recruiting, developing, engaging, and retaining our top talent. Just as our program staff utilize both creativity and science in making complex health information clear in performing their respective roles, there is both an art and science to all things HR that has inspired Lawrence to make a career of it.
Lawrence brings his 14 years of human resources expertise to HLM in the development and implementation of human resources policies, programs, and services. His career has spanned the public and nonprofit sectors, and has involved work related to recruitment, retention, classification, compensation, legal compliance, employee relations, professional development, employment practices and procedures, and employee events. Lawrence is a Human Resources Certified Senior Professional (IPMA-SCP) with the International Public Management Association, where he has served as President-Elect for the Human Resources Central Region Board and President of Greater St. Louis IPMA-HR Chapter.
Before joining HLM, he worked for St. Louis ARC, Beyond Housing, Doorways Housing, Urban Strategies, Inc, the City of Ferguson, and the City of St. Louis. In addition to his field experience, Lawrence is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the Master of Public Policy Administration (MPPA) program. He holds certificates in MPPA and Nonprofit Management & Leadership, and Local Government Management. Lawrence also holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from University of Missouri-St. Louis (Political Science and German).
